Today is the day
You’re probably about to embark on your new you challenge.
And I wish you the best of luck!
If this is you then here are a 3 tips to keeping off track and away from failure.
1. Don’t make grand gestures- What you’re looking to achieve takes time! This isn’t an overnight adventure but a journey that has no end date. It could take months, maybe years to achieve what you want, and if you want to maintain what you achieve then you’ve got to continue with it for the rest of your life. So, start of with some small adjustments to your current life, increase your activity levels, have a balance in the foods you’re eating, reduce your portion sizes. These few things could significantly increase your energy output and reduce your energy intake, resulting in a steady weight loss with just a few sustainable habit changes.
2. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is- You’ve probably seen products pushed by celebs or Insta famous people that supposably guarantee you quick results with very minimal effort, promising things like “Lose half a stone in a week if you take this product”. This is bullshit. There aren’t any magic products out there that will get you fat loss if your nutrition is terrible. A lot of the before and after photos you might see supporting these products are also using photoshopped and false. So beware. If you think you’ve bought one of these products and want some advice, drop me a message and I’ll give you advice for free.
3. Don’t rush- Real weight loss takes consistent action over a long period of time. Too many people reduce their food intake so low that they end up binge eating and ruining their progress after just weeks of their diet. Set sustainable goals, if you’re used to eating 5000 calories a day and your maintenance calories are 4000 per day, going for a 3lb per week loss which would mean eating 2500 calories isn’t going to be sustainable because you’ve been so used to eating so much more. Aiming for 1lb per week which would be 3500, is still a substantial drop, but still a lot of food which would be more sustainable to live off. And although slow progress, you’ll still be 52lbs down in a years time.
